Released a year before the US entered WWII, THE MORTAL STORM was MGM's first feature film to openly criticize the Nazi regime. Directed by Frank Borzage, the film unflinchingly looks at how the rise of Nazism tears apart a family. Adolf Hitler had the film banned from Germany.
